How to prepare for a Dog Photography Session
Some frequently asked questions
- What should I wear?
- If possible, wear neutral shades that complement your dog’s coloring. Choose comfortable shoes — or bring a pair — since we might walk around the park a bit.
- What else should I bring?
- Water, treats, and your pup’s favorite toys. This session is all about you and your special connection with your dog, so feel free to bring anything you love doing together — a frisbee, ball, or other favorite playthings. Bring a towel incase your dog like to get into the water.
- How long will the session take?
- Most shoots last about 60 minutes, depending on your dog’s energy.
- Should my dog be groomed?
- It’s best if your dog is freshly brushed and clean, but don’t worry if they get a little messy while playing — that’s part of the charm! A quick wipe for eyes or muzzle before the shoot helps.
- Can my dog stay on a leash?
- Yes! Safety comes first. I can edit out thin leashes in most photos if needed, so bring your regular leash and harness. A thin leash would be the best.
- What if my dog doesn’t stay still?
- That’s totally fine — I work with movement and play. Patience (and treats!) help us capture natural, joyful moments.
